| Let the Frizz Games begin... |
Hi Scoopers!
How are you? I'm doing great. I am so happy summer is here, not because of the humidity factor, the scorching heat and the mosquitoes, no...but because my youngest son did good on his grades, no "verano", ( Dominican way of saying Summer school) in this household.
Don't get me wrong, my kids are smart, but the math, oh the math, it's just so hard to get it through their thick skull! And the funny thing is, I understand them perfectly...Been there, done that!
Now I can wake up a tad bit later, how awesome is that? Although, my biological clock has a darn alarm that wakes me up at 6 am sharp on the spot, ever since I had my first kid...That was 22 years ago, but now I can at least try and go back to sleep or stay in the bed...Phew!
But, as of today, I am free as a bird, no tutor$$$, no grounding, no dealing with angry hormonal teenagers, no nothing...that's priceless!!!
Anyhow, because summer is here, some harsh, delicate, serious, highly sensitive matters must be dealt with, and we really need to sort those out...the frizzy hair issue.

| Catastrophic |
Again, another post on helping gals with the frizz factor, feel better about themselves when in a humid night party in a backyard (OMG what a nightmare), or some drinks at a beautiful terrace with an oceanview( Guay el salitre! Guay the "saltpeter"! Just learned that word, please no, I'd rather stay in the air conditioner or go home, for that matter), or an outing to the beach, a sleepover in a boat with a really cool group of friends and beautiful girls (visiting the island) with shiny manes (THAT IS TOUGH).
Well, guess what, you can worry a bit less with some of my recommendations, hope it helps.
Let's begin with the tools of the trade:
1- Blowdryer: FHI Heat Nano Salon Pro:
The ultra smooth and quiet dryer produces high heat and more
air velocity. Tourmaline crystals enhance ionic effect and produce moist heat.
The combination of 3 distinct Nano technologies (Nano Ti + Nano Ti02+Nano Ag)
provides maximum health and purification benefits for your hair.
Ceramic emits
gentle far infared heat to prevent damage to your hair.
I really like this blowdryer, leave my hair soft, reduces drying and keeps static away much better than regular blowers that don't have the ionic effect. I ordered mine online at Amazon.

2- Ceramic Ion Straightening/Curling Iron. Taiff:
A 1" flat iron that straightens as well as curls your hair! The TAIFF Look is the only flat iron with its own
negative ion generator. Its negative ions generator will leave the hair shiny,
healthy and static free. Product Features: -Ceramic Heater -Ceramic Coated
Plates -Negative Ion Generator -Patented Suspension System -Patented
2-temperature System -9 Ft. Rotating Cord -Worldwide Voltage (100-240) -Rubber
Insulators Prevent Burns -Ergonomic Design -Also used as a Curling Tool
I personally like this iron very much, it is user friendly, it has the rotating cord and if you travel to Europe you do not need adapters. Excellent buy! I purchased mine at Hermanos DueƱas salon in Santo Domingo.

Curl and wave in half the time of traditional "clip" curling irons with no clip lines! Just Wrap, Release, Repeat!
Revolutionary Japanese Kyocera® Ceramic Heater Technology
Constant, even 360 °F heat for reduced styling time and
long-lasting results
Universal Voltage
I like it that it comes with a glove so you don't fry your fingers! WARNING! Do not forget to use it on the hand you are touching and curling your hair with. It also brings a piece of cloth that is heat resistant and you can rest the curling iron there while dividing or primping or wrap it around the curling iron to protect it from scrapes. Remember to always use thermal protectors when using all these heating tools, although they are made of top quality material, my recommendations, they can scorch your hair if you are careless. Also read instructions carefully. I ordered mine online at Sephora. Also, it's good to watch the youtube tutorials on how to iron or curl your hair with all these hot tools if you are a newbie in this. It really helped me. I'm by no means an expert, but I can defend myself in these tough, seedy situations...

4- The John Frieda Hot Air Brush:
This brush has advanced ionic technology with a titanium ceramic coated barrel to leave your hair frizz-free and more maintainable. There are two heat settings and one cool setting. The ergonomic design makes it easy to dry and style your hair.
5- The John Frieda Smooth Waves 2-inch Jumbo Hair Setter:
These rollers creates beautiful curls with ease and convenience. They only take 2 minutes to
heat up and include 5 jumbo 2-inch diameter rollers to help with creating body.
Each titanium ceramic flocked roller has a butterfly clip to allow for
surperior hold while allowing the jumbo hot roller to produce beautiful waves
and curls. It utilizes ionic technology to reduce frizz and create
shine, leaving the hair looking healthy.
I recommend it, it is user friendly, and you will figure out how much time you need for your hair to get those "luscious" curls. I leave them on for about 5 minutes, and they heat up in 2 minutes. Another quick fix from our pal John Frieda, the guy that brought us Frizz Ease.
The only downside is that it brings only 5 rollers, and I have a lot of hair, with 1 or 2 more rollers, it would of been perfect, but hey, you can't win them all.

Why sacrifice your hair while vacationing? Enjoy
professional class hair drying with the Babyliss Tourmaline Mini Folding Travel
1000 Watt Hair Dryer. Tourmaline is a natural source of negative ions and
far-infrared heat. Negative Ions eliminate frizz and close the cuticle to
create smooth, shiny hair. Dual Voltage allows for worldwide usage. Pure
tourmaline gemstones fused with ceramic.
I've used this for trips and it works! It is tiny, but
strong. If you don't want to be carrying around much or going on a carry-on
kind of trip, this little gadget will help.

7- Conair MiniPro You Curl Clipless Curler:
This tiny curler allows you to take your clipless curling iron with you while on the go! Comes with convenient thermal storage pouch for your purse, suitcase, or gym bag. This, I would recommend for travelling, it is pretty easy to use, but it is very basic, it is very small, and you can only do so much with it. That doesn't mean it won't work, it's just mainly for touch-ups and when you are on the go and time is limited.

8- Miscellaneous:
After reviewing these styling tools I would also like to recommend some good brushes for blowouts. The Monroe brushes are excellent, I personally have the Monroe Latina Envy Oval Straightening Brush 3 Inch, check out the Monroe brushes site http://www.monroebrush.com, for your necessities.
and the Marilyn Tuxedo Brush, check out their site http://marilynbrush.com, for your necessities.
I also recommend a good paddle brush like this one, I use it before ironing my hair, so I can dry it, and it takes no time with the paddle brush.
And last but not least!!!!! Thermal protectors:
I have personally used and recommend:
-BAMBOO SMOOTH Anti-Breakage thermal Protectant Spray (for wet hair, pre blowout and irons)
-CHI Iron Guard Protection Spray (on dry hair, pre irons)
-REDKEN Heat Styling thermo actif (on dry hair, pre irons)
-KĆRASTASE REFLECTION CHROMA THERMIQUE THERMO-RADIANCE
PROTECTING MILK ( for wet hair, pre blowout and irons)
These are very important, read instructions carefully because some are intended for use on wet hair, others on dry hair. If you use Hot tools, these are a MUST!
Hope you enjoyed my post today!
Take care of your hair!
xo,
T.
